I always wanted a Stratotone bass, using a Gretcsh Electromatic 30″ scale neck as a starting point. I used a 150″ thick solid bookmatched flame maple set for the top, and larger core wood blocks to handle the additional stress of the heavier strings. I finished the neck, sides and back in black nitrocellulose lacquer and several coats of clear.
