1963 Harmony Silvertone H1454/H70

This started as a 1963 Harmony/Silvertone H1454 body and an H70 Meteor neck (in great shape, straight with lightly used frets).

When i found this body it had the original finish stripped and the neck and bridge pickup cavities rerouted for humbuckers with a piece of aluminum screwed over the middle pick up. I decided to fill in the center p/u hole and original control holes with maple plugs and reconfigure it to an H70 Meteor. I smoothed everything and repainted it in black nitrocellulose lacquer.

I added a DiMarzio 36th Anniversary PAF neck humbucker w/aged nickel cover and a Seymour Duncan Antiquity PAF aged nickel humbucker in the bridge. It has a Bigsby Gretsch B-3CBVN trem, an aluminum Bigsby Gretsch compensated bridge and a set of vintage Gotoh tuners with white buttons. I used an original Meteor wiring harness with a set of original white cupcake knobs. The white 3 ply pearloid pickguard i made using an original as a template. It is a nice mix of original parts, new parts and a restored body that makes for a great, playable and one of a kind guitar that always gets compliments.

  1. Very nice work, I myself have restored a Harmony H-70 meteor, two H-59 three pickup models (1962 and 1963) and a H-54 two pickup red sunburst from 1967. I also have an Alden branded Stratotone two pickup (black). All have the original goldfoil/moustache pickups.
